All That & A Bag of Chips

Hello Lovers!

Well, it’s finally June and I couldn’t be more excited! As some of you may know, yours truly will be a teenager in just a meager 5 days! I am super excited to be taking on the responsibility that comes with being a teenager, and can abso-frickin-lutely NOT wait!

Today was the last day of school for me. The beginning of the day started off with our last test of the year, and then it was fun, fun, and more fun! We presented a video that our class had been working on for a long time, and it was a great hit!

In the afternoon, I collected:

  • 3 cookies
  • 1 lollipop
  • 4 marshmallows
  • 3 jolly ranchers
  • 2 jolly rancher chews
  • and about 50 hugs from 50 different people

Although I will see everyone for an hour tomorrow for yearbook signing, that doesn’t change the fact that I will miss everyone terribly. 7th grade was a huge year from me, and I accomplished a lot. I opened this blog, got 700 views (THANK Y’ALL SO MUCH!), learned to sing out, overcame my fears, and made friends with better people than before. I realized that I was only seeing one part of my world, and once I looked to the other side of it, I met a lot of really great people.

So, if one were to sum up my day in a short phrase: my day was, in fact, all that and a bag of chips.

Now, on to a more serious topic:

MAKEUP!!

Today’s post will be mostly about a summer routine. I know many people who will try to get more fit over the summer, me included, and this post will help them a lot. This post will also include a makeup routine for summer.

Getting Fit

  • Drink lots of water. It seems dumb, but people overlook the benefits of just plain water.  It clears your skin, makes it glow, helps you stay un-sick, and keeps you hydrated in this summer sun. You. Need. Water.
  • Honey: Making a honey mask will get rid of acne. Google the term “honey face mask” for the recipe. Also, eating one teaspoon of honey a day will help stomach probs, and also get rid of acne.
  • Exercising:
    • Donkey Kicks: get down on all fours, with your knees touching the ground. Lift one leg up at a time, and completely straighten it. Switch legs. Do this at a quicker speed for maximum calorie burning*
    • Jumping Jacks: Remember these? Stand straight, with your arms at your side, and then snap out with your hands above your head, and your feet shoulder width apart. return to standing. repeat
    • Burpees: Jump up, as high as you can, with your arms reaching to the sky. then crouch into frog position, do a pushup, go back to frog, and then jump back up so that you are standing.
    • PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THESE, AS I DO NOT STAND RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR BODY.
    • ** the donkey kicks idea is not mine, it’s from a website called http://www.chelseacrockett.com visit it, it is really helpful!
  • Playing outside: summer is nice and warm, and just simply playing outside or going to the pool burns so many calories!

Makeup Routine

  1. Start with moisturizer: it really evens out your skin tone, and helps a lot.
  2. Put on some compressed powder: In summer, you don’t need foundation. It just get’s runny with all the heat and sweat on your face. Instead, pressed powder will give you the same, even coverage, without the runniness or hassle. Plus it covers up shine.
  3. Waterproof mascara: being out in the sun ain’t fun with raccoon eyes.
  4. Lip tint: something like Baby Lips is perfect for summer! Try coral crush, it’s my favorite!

I hope this post helped, and I hope you enjoyed my little personal life rant at the beginning.

So tell me, lovers, what was your last day like? Or if it hasn’t happened, when is it?

Love,

Lipstick Stained Latte Lover

Makeup Mistakes

Hey there beautiful!

This post will be about Beauty Blunders that everyone makes, and I’m here to help!

SPL214001_099

Christina, darling, you ARE beautiful! So why are you hiding under all those tons of junk, clogging up your pores! Ladies and gentlemen, this is a look I lovingly call “cake face”. I mentioned cake face in my last post. You’re hiding your true beauty under these tons of gunk, and not shining out. What are some things this glitz-and-glam fashionista forgot? Let’s make a list, shall we:

  1. She forgot to blend in her concealer– in order to conceal her dark circles, C slathered on the concealer. But now, instead, she has white circles! It’s always important to blend. and, as I will keep reminding, the more you put on, the more attention you draw to that area.
  2. She two toned- Her face and her hands and body have different skin tones! I think that she either used too much spray tan, or her foundation was off. Make sure that when you buy foundation, it’s the right color. And when you apply it? Blend it out onto your neck as well.
  3. Her smokey eye was, well, not smoky- She put white eyeshadow on her brow bone, and brown on her lid. Now, while it looks fine, I think that the line between the two shades should have been smudged.
  4. Black mascara, White and Neutral outfit- In my humble opinion, C should have used brown mascara. That would have kept the whole “neutral” vibe going, and made for a clean look.

Now, while Aguilera made some mistakes, there was one thing that I LOVED: the red lipstick was the perfect pop of color that the outfit needed.

Are there other mistakes that people make? Well, yeah, tons! I’m going to draw your attention to some that I thought were important

  • Applying foundation/ makeup in general to dry skin- dry skin is flaky, so if you apply makeup on it, it will flake off. Instead, moisturize and apply a primer for stuff to stay
  • Trying to “Plump” up your lips– your lips are fine, but if you want to do this, I suggest doing it right. Draw a line with lip liner just outside your lips. I bolded that, because some people draw it huge, and then fill it in with lipstick. That. Won’t. Help.  It’ll just end up looking unnatural.
  • Over-tweezing your eyebrows– your eyebrows should be natural, but not huge. I suggest getting them threaded, since it helps with keeping the look not over-thin.
  • Trying to “sculpt” your face– highlighter and bronzer should be used sparingly. Period.
  • Wearing black eyeliner during the day– black eyeliner is known to shrink your eyes, but at night, it looks appropriate. Save the black for the night out in town, and wear brown.
  • Too much glitter– I am a fan of glitter, I promise. But wearing too much on your face is  a big no-no. It just makes you look like a try-hard.

Side Notes

My blog has been doing great, thank you all for supporting me!

I am thinking of keeping this a beauty blog, since I love it so much. There may be a personal post once in a while, like a look into my life 🙂

I had help from a source: http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/gallery/makeup-mistakes-youre-making/p92112/page1 so i don’t take credit for the majority of those tips.

If Christina Aguilera is your idol, I apologize for targeting her. It’s just I found the most beauty blunders in that picture. I typed in “cake face makeup” in google images. So, I apologize if this is the case

I used a lot of alliteration and word play 🙂 So proud of myself #giftedchildrenprogramnerd

The girl looked out her window and sighed contentedly. Today she had composed a great looking outfit, ran a mile, wrote a great (she thinks) post, and it was still bright and beautiful outside at 7:17 PM. Today was a really good day for her. As she started to close down her laptop, she wondered if her followers would be active and comment and like her posts. She sure hoped so. Smiling at the laptop, she said “goodnight, latte lovers”

Lipstick Stained Love Letters

beauty

Hey lovelies!

I’ve decided to make my blog more professional-looking, how do you think I did?

I received a lot of emails from people just wanting advice, and I decided to do a question and answer session blog post!

Q: Do you think it’s right for middle school girls to wear a lot of makeup, like foundation and lipstick and eyeliner? Some people at my school do, and I wanted advice from a professional like you.

A: Hun, I’m flattered, but I’m in no way a professional. Beauty is just a passion of mine, so I’m going to try and answer your question as best as possible. I don’t think that middle school girls should wear foundation, since it just looks cakey. Instead, stick with a good concealer and some lip gloss. If you want to, you can also wear mascara.

Q: I’m new to my school, and I want to make new friends. How can I get people to like me?

A: This is cheesy, and you have probably heard it a million times, but its tried and tested: Be yourself. You don’t want to come off as a fake, because you might make the wrong kind of friends, or get ruled out. You want to also look your best. Don’t wear too short skirts, too tight shirts, and heels, but don’t look like a hobo either. A good outfit is a skirt that comes right above your knees and a cute tee (it also looks great tucked into a skirt), or skinny jeans and a more dressy-ish top. Go get ’em, girl!

Q: How can I put foundation on without it looking cakey?

A: Well, your best bet would be not to wear any foundation, but if you absolutely want to, here are some tips:

  • Take a pea sized amount of foundation ONLY. Do not take more, because you will end up using it all, and then it will look fake-er than Snooki’s tan
  • Use a sponge. By using a sponge, a little bit of the foundation gets soaked into the sponge, so that it won’t come out too heavy. Also, sponges help because they make it easy to buff out the edges and blend the foundation.
  • Let your foundation sit. Your foundation will dry evenly if you don’t add anything on top of it for at least 2 minutes. Once the foundation is dry, make sure to set it with a translucent setting powder. If your foundation doesn’t dry in 2 minutes or less, you put on way too much. Taking 1 to 1 and 1/2 minutes to dry is about perfect.
  • Don’t wear it everyday. It is simply just not appropriate to wear it everyday, since you have nothing to hide. If you have severe acne, before caking on the sugar, you might want to visit a dermatologist. A prescribed acne medicine got me past my severe acne bout, and it helped keep it away.

I really hope that helped! Keep emailing me with questions at lipsticklattesandluv@gmail.com

A Rainy Day in Brooklyn

I don’t actually live in Brooklyn, but where I live, there’s a HUGE rainstorm. It’s been going on for yesterday and today, and one of my friend’s streets was almost flooded! Half of their mailbox was under water. O.O

There’s also a giant sinkhole on the South Side, and its pretty scary.

We have no school today, and its 70 degrees, but there’s not much one can do on a day like this. Hope for the rain to get better!

Spring Break!!

Heyy lovelies!

Spring Break just started a couple days ago here in Chicago, and I’ve been enjoying it a lot!

I don’t know if y’all know this, but I do dance. So I had my dance showcase on Saturday, the first day of break. It was soo amazing! My dance friends are like my sisters, and we all performed really well (I think 🙂 ). So leading up to Saturday was really stressful for me, with 5 hour dance rehearsals practically every day, but I did it!

I then needed Sunday to de-stress, so my family and I went shopping.
A little about mi familia: I have one little sister, and a mom and a dad. I don’t like to get too specific online, just mere being mere, i guess 😛

On Sunday I bought:

  • A Chambray shirt from Rue 21
  • A sweatshirt from Rue 21
  • A grey and white striped shirt with a high-low hem. The shirt also had studs on the shoulders and was from Forever 21
  • Lots of 21’s LOL
  • A pair of gray jeans from Kohls
  • A pair of classic skinnies from Target
  • A scarf from Kohls
  • A one-piece from Target

On Monday I basically loafed around doing nothing, painted my picture of a toucan that I drew in art, did more nothing, did a 30-minute workout, ate, and did more nothing. My friend came over and we tried to do homework. We failed. LOL

Today I woke up a little late, read, watched TV, exercised, and got ready to go to my friend (the same one)’s house for homework. We got most of it done there. IDK why, but we did 🙂

Tomorrow is when the fun starts:

On Wednesday, a couple of my friends and my sister’s friends are coming over. Can you say FUN! LOL I’m so dorky 😛

On Thursday, a girl from my singing group is coming over. Yeah, I sing too. Lots to learn about me, lovelies!

On Friday, a huge group of my friends are coming over and we are going to see a movie! It’s going to be amazing just getting some girl time. We have the best times together, and I just love them so much!

So what else can I tell you, erm, lemme think:

One of my dance friends is moving soon 😦 It’s pretty sad, and I’m going to miss her. We weren’t that close, but friends are friends. Hopefully we will keep in touch, though 🙂

Ohmygod my emoticons line up in the above paragraph!! ^^^

Atleast they did while I was typing.

I think I might turn this into a beauty blog, what do you think darlings?!

I just LOVE makeup and skincare and just giving tips, and I think I could put that love on my blog! Comment your thoughts.

I love you, All of you

Once upon a time, a few mistakes ago

Hey there beautiful!

Before I start, one thing I want to put out there. I’m thinking of posting once a month. Thoughts?

My blog has been really dull. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Will someone help me? Because I love blogging, I really do! But I just want to be appreciated for what I do and I want to know that people out there really do know that there is a blog called Lipstick, Lattes, and Luv.

All that put aside, let’s get on with it, shall we?

I don’t know if anyone checked, and I don’t know if  I even posted about it (knowing me I probably did), but the Beauty page has skincare tips.

Today I have a huge party at my house. It’s going to be amazing, and I’m co-hosting it with all my besties, but i’m SO STRESSED. What do y’all do to de-stress? I’ll tell you my plan.

Currently, I’m supposed to be doing homework. But, as we all know, homework=boring x10!!! So as I type, I do a quick run-through of my plan.

Since the party starts at 4:30, I’m getting started on my whole routine at 3:00. That gives me 1 hour to do “homework” (it’s currently 2:00. At 3, I will take a shower, clean my skin, whatnot.

TIP TIME: Never, ever, ever exfoliate the day of a huge party. When you exfoliate, it takes 2 or 3 days for  your skin to clear out. The harshness may at first cause pimples, but they go in 2 days. Then your skin is bright and pretty.  So only wash your face, don’t exfoliate.

Then I will go and get a facial and a mani/pedi

From there, I will probably get a latte from starbucks. YUMM 🙂

Then i will get ready, makeup, whatnot. (LOL I just love that word)

AND THEN IT’S PARTY TIME!!!!

So, now I’m going to go post on my Massie Blog, and then try to get some homework done. I just can NOT focus today. I will update y’all on the party tomorrow. Well, I’ll try.

-LSLL

Just want all my followers to know that I deeply appreciate you taking the time to read my posts. It brings a smile to my face.
